Curated by:
FLOOR 7 – Pluk de Nacht
Known for their outdoor movie screenings and unique selection of unreleased independent art-house cinema, documentaries, animation and shorts, have put together a compilation programme of bizarre, trippy and over the top animations on the rooftop. Depending on the weather conditions the screening will be out- or inside.
FLOOR 5 – Cineville
Cinema platform Cineville has been madly in love with adventurous filmmaking since 2009. For their 10-year anniversary, they offered their favourite up-and-coming Dutch directors a carte blanche to direct the short of their dreams. The weird and wonderful results will be shown alongside some of their previous work.
FLOOR 4 – Lab111
In the building that used to be a pathological anatomical laboratory, an extraordinary cinema has found their new home. LAB111 curates their movie selection not by what’s new, but what is good. Documentaries, Classics till niche movies. You name it. Their floor will screen an eclectic selection of animation, genre-films and shorts classics.
FLOOR 3 – Broedplaats
Broedplaats -in the back wing of Volkshotel- is the place for experiments and creativity. Here you can find the creative minds that once saved this building from being demolished. A lot of them are involved with inspiring movie/documentary/animation projects. A selection of their extensive repertoire is displayed on this floor.
FLOOR 1 – Nederlandse Filmacademie
The Netherlands Film Academy trains students to become specialists in the film industry. They’ve selected graduation films from three up and coming alumni who worked on a full feature film recently. A unique view in their early work that hasn’t been featured often.
FLOOR -1 – Doka
Sound bar Doka is located in the basement of Volkshotel. Here we dive deep in the most common form of short movies: music videos. DJ, producer and music label owner Philou Louzolo selected a collection of music videos that invites us to look beyond certain stigmas to perceive the African diaspora in a forward-thinking and futuristic way.
