De Ontmoeting
De Ontmoeting offers (new) filmmakers the opportunity to create and showcase their work while expanding their networks. Each year, they connect several industry professionals with emerging creators, who, with their support, produce a short film. For Short Movie Sunday, they have curated a selection of these films to display.
Studio/K
Studio/K is a lively, multidisciplinary theatre in Amsterdam East where you can catch live music, check out art, grab a bite, or enjoy a drink. But what really sets it apart is its awesome arthouse cinema. The place is run by more than 50 passionate students who curate a fresh and exciting lineup of films.
Sprouts Film Festival
With intensifying global turmoil, from climate extremes to human conflicts, the temptation to look away grows. Sprouts, however, tries to transform cinema into a site for peaceful protest, presenting fresh eco-focused and socially aware fiction films. By tapping into the power of fiction, they believe they can drive positive behaviour shifts and reimagine our connection with the planet.
Broedplaats VKG
Broedplaats VKG is nestled in the back wing of Volkshotel. This cultural hub acts as an experimental playground for local talent while also housing notable creative minds, including filmmakers, animators, and documentary producers. A curated selection of their work will be on display during Short Movie Sunday.
HKU
The HKU in Utrecht is an art academy offering various creative disciplines, including an Audiovisual Media course that develops essential skills in filmmaking. Known for encouraging innovation and collaboration, HKU empowers students to explore their creative potential in an interdisciplinary environment. The academy has selected short films from recent graduates.
Nederlandse Filmacademie
As the only institution in the Netherlands devoted to every aspect of film, Nederlandse Filmacademie trains students to become film industry experts. Their selection of graduation films from promising alumni offers a unique look at their early creations.
