Vincent: « Outlined is my creative autonomous work and experimental output besides my day-to-day work in my graphic design studio. I started Outlined.cc out of my love for typography and its nifty visual details. What happens when you extremely zoom in on these details, extract them out of their context and remodel them to make works of art? In my work I try to create colorful & graphic compositions looking for contrast, tension and balance. »
« For clients I usually work on visual identities with a focus on digital and web, so it is amazing to have an artistic project on the side which allows me to work on physical products as well. I like the balance between digital and physical, on- and offline and artistic and applied or commercial. Outlined has all these aspects in one project. All works are created digitally and giclée printed in signed limited editions. I always use giclée because it produces very rich and vibrant colors. It is an art-reproduction RGB printing technique that uses 12 UV pigments and on the right paper it is even colorfast for a 100 years! »
« I tend to make a lot of different variations and sketches from which the majority will never see the light of day. Some unfinished works will be picked up months later to be finished or used partly in a new work. I try to work towards small collections which reflect a new step in my process with a technique or artistic approach. This is a nice way to evolve my way of working and find new results. Also it forces myself to release new works regularly and don’t keep things too long for myself. By releasing it to the public sooner than later you create an open way of working and be receptive for feedback and improvement, which I see as a crucial part of the whole proces and experiment itself. »
